MERA DESH MERI PEHCHAN-2018
I take this opportunity to write to you and give the details of our event "MERA DESH MERI PEHCHAN-2108” which the Lakshya Foundation organized between 19th to 24th July 2018
Mrs. Anuradha Prabhudesai, is the Founder-President of Lakshya Foundation. Formed in 2009, Lakshya Foundation is a group of volunteers striving to bridge the gap between civilians and armed forces on an emotional and experiential level. They are committed to spreading the saga of sacrifice of our young bravehearts in olive green through various activities organized all over the country.
Mrs Anuradha has visited Kargil/ Drass area nineteen times in the past alongwith groups of civilians to make an attempt at sensitizing them to the tremendous sacrifices made by the Indian Armed Forces while serving the country in such inhospitable and difficult terrain. Volunteers of Lakshya are immensely proud of our soldiers who sacrifice the prime of their lives so that we civilians can lead a secure future. Mrs Anuradha is honoured to be a part of the 26th July Kargil Vijay Diwas Ceremony at Drass from 2010 onwards, consecutively for last 9 years.Books written by her have been released consecutively for 3years at the hands of the GOC-in-C, Northern Command on the occasion of Vijay Diwas ceremony.
The Indian Army has acknowledged the invaluable contribution and support of the local civilians and villagers in Kargil- Drass area during the trying times of Operation Vijay. Who can appreciate it better than the soldiers who had the honour of leading from the front in some of the historic battles of that conflict!
In order to express our gratitude to the local civilians of the area and also our bravehearts involved in Op.Vijay, Lakshya Foundation had organised a series of events from 19th July to 24th July 2018,in and around Kargil area. Lakshya volunteers with the local students organisation conducted various games and competitions for local students and youth. We arranged separate games and competitions for the lady participants as well. Some of Lakshya volunteers presentedcultural programmes such as Magic show, and Dance performances. As a grand finale, we felicitated those civilians who helped the armed forces in the Kargil conflict and distributed prizes to the winners of the competitions. At the same time Lakshya Foundation invited 18 soldiers who were involved in Op. Vijay and felicitated them. They narrated their inspiring experiences and memories during the operation from the ringside view of the battle theatre near Tololing and Drass village in the presence of more than 150 youth of Kargil. Local villagers and civilians were present in large numbers during all activities. As many as 180 students from such far flung villages as Lankore, Karikicho, Latoo, Kaksar, Sankoo also participated in some of these events. Mrs. Anuradha made her audio-visual presentation on “Junoon Shahidon Ka, Jazba Kargil Ka” which showcased the exploits of valour of our soldiers. The entire programme was well received by the local civilians as well as the Kargil war veterans. We sincerely believe and hope that this and such programmes would in our own small way help to synergize the connect between the local civilians in the Kargil area and our men in olive green.
MERA DESH MERI PEHCHAN-2018 was an inspiring, motivating and enriching experience for the Lakshya volunteers and we are committed to and encouraged to organize such and similar programmes in the future also.
